The Burning Bush

Around every corner, November astonishes me with its still-smoldering palette--the hammered gold of maples floating impossibly and spilling across sidewalks, heaped embers in a Bradford pear, the scarlet-burning bush.

  1. Cool picture! Around here, the past week has stripped the trees. There are a few patches of faded yellow or orange left, but mostly just bareness.

  3. To tell you the truth, I don't even know what kind of bush is in my photo. Is "burning bush" the name of a particular variety?--ME

  4. I don't really know much about them either. We planted two last summer and they were called "fire" bushes but I've heard lots of people call them burning. All the other bushes around here are bright red but not ours. Not sure why!
